Aroha Clifford – aviator died after childbirth in 1933.

Aroha Clifford was the first pilot trained by the Canterbury Aero Club in 1928.
She may have been New Zealand’s first woman pilot.

Joseph Fearis Munnings – the world famous architect who designed the hospital and decided to make her the first civil concrete building in Canterbury.
